Warner Robins Police Officer Injured in Vehicle Accident
WARNER ROBINS, GA. – July 2, 2018 (41nbc.com) A police officer with the Warner Robins Police Department was injured in a vehicle accident July 2, according to an online news report from 41nbc.com.*
The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on July 2 at the intersection of Russell Parkway and Tallula Trail in Warner Robins, Georgia. Authorities say the Warner Robins officer was on his motorcycle and was involved in a wreck with a 2008 Volkswagen R32.
The officer, who has not been identified at this time, was injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where he is expected to fully recover. The driver of the Volkswagen, who has also not been identified, was reportedly not injured.
It is not clear how the collision occurred or whether any charges will be pursued in connection with the accident. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the wreck and has not yet released additional information to the public.
Warner Robins is located in Houston County in the central part of the state of Georgia. It has an estimated population of about 74,000. According to data from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Houston County was the site of 4,316 vehicle accidents in 2016. This was the highest number of vehicle accidents in the county during a five-year period studied by the Office of Highway Safety. The 2016 accidents led to 1,223 injuries and 17 deaths. Nine of the fatality accidents that year in Houston County were related to alcohol consumption or speeding.
