Nursing Student First on Scene of Deadly Car Crash
ANDERSON, SC – June 19, 2018 (foxcarolina.com). According to an online news report at foxcarolina.com, a nursing student was first on the scene of a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday, June 16, 2018.*
Sarah Eagle, a nursing student at East Carolina University, arrived upon a scene of an accident on Interstate 85 in Anderson County. "I think I was meant to be there," Sarah Eagle noted as she discusses the crash that occurred on Saturday morning on Interstate 85 in Anderson County.
As Eagle noted in the article, "[one of the victims] was breathing very heavily and it was hard to find a pulse.” The victim was fifteen year old Kiki Wolwark.
Kiki and her twelve year old brother Nathan both died in the accident, according to the Anderson County medical examiner. The family’s car flipped over multiple times in the accident before resting upright. The Wolwark family consists of the children’s mother, Natalia, and her four children, one of whom was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
"I just kept my hand on [Kiki’s] chest, she started breathing better once we turned her over. By that point the helicopter started to land," Eagle noted.
According to the article, while Eagle is just a nursing student, “her best medicine in that moment was sitting with Kiki in her final moments.”
"I was saying 'stay with us,' I don't even know she could hear me, I just felt like if she could, just knowing that somebody else was there was just comforting. Just having people around her," Eagle further stated.
