Two Contractors Hospitalized After Accident at Georgia Power Plant

BARTOW COUNTY, GA. – June 7, 2018 ( According to an online article by, two contractors performing work for Georgia Power were hospitalized June 6 after an accident at a Bartow County, Georgia, plant.*

The accident occurred late in the evening on June 6 at the Plant Bowen facility located at 317 Covered Bridge Road SW in Euharlee, Georgia. A spokesperson for Georgia Power said the two men were contractors employed by the company Fluor and were working between units one and two at the plant when they sustained injuries in an accident. Both men were transported to local hospitals (it is not clear which hospitals) for treatment of their injuries. Their current conditions are not known.  

Details about the cause and nature of the accident have not been released, but Fluor and Georgia Power are cooperating with local authorities in their investigation. The two workers have not been identified at this time, “out of respect for the privacy of the employees,” according to Fluor. Both Fluor and Georgia Power said the workers and their families are in the companies’ thoughts and prayers. 

Fluor is a “global engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and maintenance company that designs, builds and maintains capital-efficient facilities,” according to its website. The company has clients on six continents. The Plant Bowen facility for Georgia Power employs 400 people and also houses the Water Research Center. The plant produces enough energy by itself every year to power 1.9 million homes. Georgia Power said safety was a “top priority” at all of its facilities.
