Head-On Collision in Bibb County Leaves Two Dead

BIBB COUNTY, GA. – June 10, 2018 (macon.com) According to an online report from macon.com, two people died June 10 in a head-on collision in Bibb County.*

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on June 10 on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon, Georgia. Officials say 59-year-old Maricial Guardado, of Macon, was traveling northbound on Pio Nono Avenue in a Nissan Altima when he crossed the centerline around the area of Williamson Road and Newberg Avenue. Guardado traveled into the southbound lane, where 69-year-old Emory Easley, of Macon, was traveling in a Toyota Camry. Guardado’s Nissan crashed into Easley’s Toyota head-on. 

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones reported that Guardado died at the scene of the crash. He had to be extricated from his vehicle by the fire department, Jones said. Easley was transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he tragically died of his injuries. Jones said he had known Easley his whole life, and that Easley was an insurance agent and active member of the Beulah Baptist Church. 

It does not appear any other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no other injuries were reported. Jones indicated that no passengers were in either vehicle at the time of the crash. Macon and Bibb County authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident and have not released additional information at this time. The cause of the accident is not yet known. 

Bibb County is located in the central portion of the state of Georgia. According to datafrom the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Bibb County has seen a substantial increase in vehicle accidents during the last several years. In 2012, approximately 850 vehicle accidents occurred in the county. In 2016, the number leaped to more than 7,600 vehicle accidents in the county.
