Police Identify Victims of Deadly Cartersville, Georgia Crash

CARTERSVILLE, GA. – April 30, 2018 ( According to an online report by, authorities have identified the victims of a deadly three-car crash that took place April 27 in Cartersville, Georgia.*

Around 10 a.m. on April 27, 27-year-old Ashia Williams, of Kingsland, Georgia, was driving westbound on Southbridge Road. Near South Erwin Street, Williams moved into another lane, sideswiping one car and crashing into another. Williams died on the scene. 

The two other drivers were identified as 20-year-old Lashawndrea Jones, of Cartersville, and 17-year-old Grace Hamner, of Emerson, Georgia. Both Jones and Hamner were transported to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment of reportedly minor injuries. 

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and have not yet released additional information. It does not appear any passengers were involved, and no other injuries have been reported. 

Cartersville is located in Bartow County and is in the northwest edge of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The city has a population of approximately 20,800. Cartersville’s main highways and interstates include Interstate 75, State Route 3, and U.S. Highway 411. Southbridge Road is located in the eastern half of the city and runs east and west off of Highway 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway. The road curves into South Erwin Street after a short distance, by Piedmont Resin Supply.  

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety calculated that 3,645 vehicle accidents occurred in Bartow County in 2016. In these accidents, 997 people were injured, and 26 people were fatally injured. Almost half of those fatalities were the result of excess speeding or alcohol consumption.
