Details Emerge Following Pedestrian Accident on Bluffton Roadway
SOUTH CAROLINA – April 26, 2018 (islandpacket.com). According to an online news report at islandpacket.com, the South Carolina Highway Patrol states that a Bluffton pedestrian is at fault for being hit by a Ford Pickup truck on Wednesday, April 24, 2018.*
The accident occurred on Burnt Church Road where a pedestrian was hit by a Ford pickup truck. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in Savannah, Georgia following the accident that happened at approximately 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 278.
The Ford pickup truck, operated by a man from Georgia, struck the man, per Lance Corporal Matthew Southern from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was trying to cross the street but was not using a crosswalk at the time he was struck. The pedestrian was also dressed in dark clothing, which made it hard for the driver to see him.
The hospital has not provided the public with an update on how the pedestrian is doing. According to the incident report, the man suffered "incapacitating injuries," but that he was also "talking and coherent" when he was transported to the area hospital.
