Tractor-Trailer Crash in Fulton County Tragically Kills One, Injures Two

FULTON COUNTY, GA. – April 24, 2018 ( One woman is dead and two others are injured following a tractor-trailer collision in South Fulton, according to a news report from* 

On the afternoon of April 24, just before 5 p.m., 71-year-old Brenda Stiggers was driving a Cadillac on Rivertown Road in Chattahoochee Hills, Fulton County. She had a female passenger in her vehicle at the time. At the intersection of Rivertown Road and South Fulton Parkway, Stiggers reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the northbound lanes of South Fulton Parkway. Stiggers’s Cadillac was then struck on the driver’s side by two commercial vehicles: a Coca-Cola truck and a tow truck. 

Stiggers and the female passenger in her vehicle were airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. Stiggers sadly died from her injuries. The passenger of the Cadillac is reportedly in critical condition. Reports are conflicting about whether the female passenger was an adult or a juvenile. The driver of the Coca-Cola tractor-trailer, who has not been identified, was transported by ground to Piedmont Newnan Hospital. The driver of the tow truck, who has also not been identified, is in unknown condition. 

Chattahoochee Hills Police and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating the collision and have not released additional information at this time. 

Fulton County, Georgia, sees a large number of vehicle accidents each year. According to data from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, 60,984 vehicle accidents occurred in Fulton County in 2016. Of those, 12,875 resulted in injury, and 129 resulted in fatal injuries. Many fatal accidents in the county involve speeding or alcohol consumption.
