Ford Recalls 350,000 More Trucks and SUVs in April

April 22, 2018

DEARBORN, MI. – April 17, 2018 ( A story from reports that Ford is recalling another round of trucks and SUVs. The recall comes not long after announcement of another recall affecting Ford’s vehicles.*

The latest recall involves nearly 350,000 trucks and SUVs, including 10-speed automatic 2018 Ford F-150s and 2018 Ford Expeditions, and 6-speed automatic commercial-use 2018 Ford F-650s and 2018 Ford F-750s. Ford reportedly initiated the recall because of rollaway concerns.

The affected vehicles apparently have issues with a clip locking the gearshift cable to the transmission. The clip might not be fully sealed on certain (above-named) trucks and SUVs and can become dislodged. If the clip becomes dislodged, the vehicles might not fully park, even when drivers place the vehicles in park. This could lead to vehicles rolling away and potentially causing accidents.

Ford confirmed that one accident and injury have been traced back to the clip issue. The recall applies to 347,425 trucks and SUVs total. Of those, 292,909 are in the United States, 51,742 are in Canada, and 2,774 are in Mexico.

At the same time, Ford has a separate recall for significantly fewer vehicles, also over parking concerns. This recall applies to 161 of Ford’s F-150s, Mustangs, and Lincoln Navigators. These vehicles might be missing a roll pin that enables the vehicles to park.

To understand whether your own vehicle is affected by any recent recalls, you can visit Ford’s website, and enter your car’s vin number. You should also have received mailed communication from Ford if your vehicle was part of a recall. If you find that you have an affected vehicle, Ford will notify you of the proper steps to take. Typically, you will take your vehicle to a Ford service center for repairs free of charge.
