April 15, 2018

CARTERSVILLE, GA. – April 13, 2018 (patch.com) According to an online report from patch.com, a man has been charged with driving under the influence after causing a head-on collision in Cartersville.*

Around 5:30 p.m. on April 11, Paul Michael Sisk, of Euharlee, reportedly went to a liquor store in Cartersville, Toad’s Beverage Co., and drove away from the store in his 1997 Honda Civic. Sisk was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Road toward Etowah Drive. Witnesses say he was driving recklessly, laying drags, and passed several cars before leaving his lane and veering into the westbound lanes.

A woman driving a 2018 Honda Pilot was driving westbound on Old Mill Road at the time, when Sisk entered her lane of travel and struck her car head-on. The driver of the Pilot told Cartersville Police that she saw him coming into her lane and tried to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision.

Cartersville Police reported that Sisk was so intoxicated at the scene that he was unable to provide a statement. He has now been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain a lane, and reckless driving.

The Pilot driver reportedly was experiencing back and neck pain following the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. She has not been identified, and details about her current condition have not been released.

It has not been confirmed that Sisk had been at the liquor store prior to the accident, nor has information about a liquor transaction at the store been released. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident in light of the charges.
