According to the PEDS report, pedestrian fatalities and injuries are a “serious and growing problem in Georgia,” with more than 17,000 vehicle-pedestrian crashes occurring in the state between 2011 and 2015. The report states that about 44 percent of pedestrian accidents in Georgia occur on state-owned arterial roads, with 5 percent of these accidents resulting in the death of the pedestrian.
