Pile-up Accident on Interstate 75 in Bartow County
Close to a dozen people were transported to area hospitals after a pile-up accident on Interstate 75 in Bartow County, according to WSB-TV. All of the injured parties are believed to have suffered injuries that are thankfully not life-threatening. The early afternoon accident involved a number of vehicles, including both passenger vehicles and multiple tractor trailers. Since so many vehicles were involved in the pile-up crash, it took quite a few emergency personnel and several tow truck drivers a few hours to remove all of the wrecked vehicles and debris from the roadway.
Pile-Up Accident Injures Numerous People, Makes for Lengthy Cleanup
Whenever you drive anywhere, you share the road with other drivers. Sometimes, there are many drivers on the road with you, and sometimes traffic is light. Unfortunately, it only takes one vehicle to cause a crash. Whenever an accident occurs, there is a danger that other cars will become entangled in it, such as the crash described above which sent almost a dozen people to the hospital and took hours to clean up. The result of a pile-up accident is often multiple injuries, a bunch of wrecked cars, and sometimes even one or more fatalities.
Reduce the Risk of a Pile-Up with These Safe Driving Tips
Drivers can take action to decrease the chance that they will be involved in a chain reaction accident. For example, maintaining constant awareness of your surroundings will help you be ready to avoid any obstacle that you notice in the roadway, including crashed vehicles. If you see a vehicle stopped on the road or the shoulder, slow down so that you don't crash into it. Follow other vehicles at a reasonable distance to further reduce your risk of getting caught up in chain reaction accident. Don't forget to adjust your driving to accommodate the weather and the road conditions. Fog, rain, sleet, and snow reduce traction and visibility, so reduce your speed accordingly. When you pay close attention to the road conditions, you have a much better chance of avoiding a pile-up wreck because you are prepared to respond to things in the roadway like the movements of other vehicles, items on the road, or anything else that requires evasive action in an effort to avoid a crash.
