Tragic, Fatal 19-Wheeler Truck Accident on I-95 in Darien, Georgia

December 13, 2022

DARIEN, GEORGIA - A news report posted on reports that two people have been tragically killed in a tractor-trailer truck collision on I-95 in Darien, Georgia.*

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that the crash occurred at around 4:35 PM at the McIntosh-Glynn County line. The Georgia State Patrol stated that witnesses came forward and said an unknown pickup truck that was heading northbound forced a Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck into the interstate's median. That tractor-trailer truck then crossed and crashed through the median cable barrier. The truck then entered the southbound traffic lanes and crashed into a Volvo tractor-trailer truck. The Volvo's trailer then separated from the tractor and overturned. The Georgia State Patrol reported that the Volvo truck driver escaped the cab just before it caught on fire.

The Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck then burst into fire as it came to a stop along the four southbound traffic lanes. The two occupants of the Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck tragically died at the scene of the crash.

Georgia State Patrol identified the Volvo truck driver as a 48-year-old man from Savannah. He sustained accident-related injuries.

The  Peterbilt occupants have been identified as residents of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

One southbound traffic lane was reopened at around 9:15 PM. However, the Georgia State Patrol stated that there was a tremendous amount of crash debris. The Georgia State reported that the accident was cleared by 1:30 AM. The right southbound traffic lane was kept closed because of fire damage. The Georgia State Patrol's Special Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the tractor-trailer truck accident.
