Tragic Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on I-75 Southbound in Macon, Georgia

MACON, GEORGIA - An accident news article published on reports that the Bibb County Sheriff's Office stated that it was investigating a tragic, fatal auto accident on Interstate 75 in Macon, Georgia.*

The fatal crash transpired on I-75 South near Pierce Avenue at around 1:00 AM on Sunday. The fatal interstate crash closed down I-75 South for many hours. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office reported that a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was heading northbound in the I-75 southbound traffic lanes when it collided with a BMW that was heading south. The wrong-way collision on I-75 southbound caused one fatality, and another was severely injured. 

35-year-old man from Macon, who was operating the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, was transported to Navicent Health. He is listed in critical medical condition at this time. Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone reported to news agencies that the 20-year-old BMW driver was from Dublin, Georgia, and he was tragically pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The victim's next of kin was notified by Bibb County Deputy Coroner Stone. There were no other injuries reported. 

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is asking for eyewitnesses to come forward and provide any helpful information that they may have about the crash. The name of the accident victim was not made public by the Bibb County Deputy Coroner at this time. 

The Bibb County Deputy Coroner's Office and local law enforcement will continue their fatal car accident investigation. The area around the accident was shut down while emergency crews, the Bibb County Deputy Coroner's Office, and law enforcement officers handled the accident. No criminal charges have been reported at this time.
