Severe Car Accident on I-285 in DeKalb County, Georgia

Accident investigators reported that a crash occurred at around 1 AM. The crash happened on I-285 by the Covington Highway in DeKalb County.

While police began their investigation of the motor vehicle accident, law enforcement officials reported that another motor vehicle that was heading south struck the DeKalb County police vehicle. The law enforcement officer and the other driver were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening accident-related injuries.

I-285 southbound traffic lanes southbound were closed as the investigating law enforcement officers managed the accident scene. The names of those involved in the car accident were not made public by law enforcement at this time. There is an active crash investigation underway, and as more information emerges, the news reporters will update their stories.
