GEORGIA - A news story published on reports that a man was tragically killed in a car accident with a Clayton County police officer.*

The man's 2-year-old son was seriously injured in the collision, according to the Georgia State Patrol troopers. The 21-year-old father and his son were hit at around 5 in the morning, the Georgia State Patrol reported. The location of the crash was on Georgia Highway 85 in Riverdale.

According to the news report, the Clayton County police officer, a 24-year-old man, was traveling northbound as he was responding to a possible emergency call. The news report states that the officer was traveling to the call "without emergency equipment activated." Ahead of the officer, the victim, who was driving a blue Ford Fiesta, was attempting to make a left turn into a KFC from the center lane. The car crash sent the Clayton County police officer's car off the highway and onto a sidewalk. The officer's vehicle then rolled downhill and slammed into a building. Law enforcement authorities reported that the Ford Fiesta spun clockwise and then came to a rest in the northbound traffic lanes.

The driver, identified as a man from Atlanta, was brought to a local area hospital, where he later passed away due to his accident injuries. The victim's 2-year-old son, who was riding in the back seat, was taken to a local area hospital with unknown personal injuries.
