Georgia Mayor Rescues Mother and Her Three Children from a Train Accident in Vienna, Georgia

October 17, 2022

VIENNA, GEORGIA - According to a news report published on wndu.com, a Georgia mayor is being called a hero after he rescued a mother and her three kids minutes before a train crashed into their vehicle.*

The news report states that Vienna Mayor Eddie Daniels was heading to work when he witnessed an SUV stalling out on train tracks as a train approached the SUV. Mayor Daniels stated that he "couldn't let those babies sit there and get slaughtered by a train." He then stated that he saw the family in trouble and had to do something.

Mr. Daniels ran over to the SUV and pulled the mother out of the truck first. Then he went to the back of the SUV and pulled three small kids out of the SUV. Just as he pulled the last child out of the SUV, the train crashed into the SUV. Mr. Daniels was caught between the SUV and the train but was about to rescue the last child and himself from the collision. The wrecked truck was thrown a few feet away. Mr. Daniels sustained a broken ankle and a head laceration. He stated that he was happy that the family made it out of the SUV alive.

According to Mayor Daniels, he was "just doing God's work." He says that he doesn't feel like a hero because he is just doing what he or anyone else is supposed to do. He stated that he never imagined that this accident would happen and that he would be at the right place at the right time.

The names of the train accident victims were not released to the public at this time. The crash will be investigated, and the news story will be updated when new information about the train crash is released to the public. The area around the train accident was shut down as emergency crews, train officials, and law enforcement officers managed the accident scene.
