Tragic, Fatal Head-on Accident in Rabun County, Georgia

RABUN COUNTY, GEORGIA - According to a news article published on wyff4.com, two people were tragically killed in a head-on crash last Wednesday afternoon.*

The motor vehicle accident occurred on Highway 76 in Georgia. Georgia State Patrol Lieutenant Michael Burns reported to news outlets that the fatal car crash occurred at approximately 3:15 PM on Highway 76 (Long Creek Highway) in Rabun County, Georgia. The fatal accident occurred west of the Georgia/South Carolina state line.

According to Lieutenant Burns, a car heading westbound along Highway 76 failed to maintain its traffic lane and crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a pickup truck. The car's driver and passenger tragically died at the accident scene. Law enforcement authorities identified the fatal head-on victims as an 81-year-old woman and a 91-year-old woman.

Lieutenant Burns also stated that the occupants inside the pickup truck sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries. The accident victims were flown to a local area trauma center. There were no reports as to their medical conditions at this time. 

This accident investigation is ongoing, and the news agency will provide updates as additional information is received. 

The Georgia State Patrol will continue its fatal motor vehicle accident investigation. The accident scene closed down the area to traffic for several hours as emergency crews and the Georgia State Patrol managed the accident and assisted the injury victims. All accident eyewitnesses are urged to assist local law enforcement in their investigation by providing any helpful information. No criminal charges have been reported at this time.
