Georgia Mayor is Tragically Killed in a Motocross Accident
WHITE, GEORGIA - An auto accident news report published on USAToday.com states that a northwest Georgia mayor was tragically killed in a severe motocross crash on Saturday.*
The victim, the mayor of White, Georgia, in Bartow County, passed away due to blunt force trauma to his chest, a report from The Daily Tribune News of Cartersville stated.
According to Murray County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Sosebee, the 54-year-old mayor crashed and was then hit by another motocross rider at the Lazy River Motocross track. Deputy Coroner Sosebee stated that this was an unavoidable accident. Sosebee said that he believed the victim was on a jump, crashed at the top of the jump, and a bike behind him could not avoid striking the victim. Sosebee also reported that the victim was too severely injured to be air evacuated and tragically passed away at a Chatsworth hospital.
Sosebee stated that law enforcement officials are currently investigating the fatal motocross crash, and no criminal charges were filed at this time. The Deputy Coroner also reported that the other motorcycle rider suffered injuries and was released from the hospital a few hours later.
The former mayor took office only a few months ago. According to The Daily Tribune News, the mayor was trying to restore the mayor's powers after those powers were previously transferred to a city manager. Pro Tem Gary Crisp is going to take over mayoral duties until the town holds another special election.
This accident news report is still developing and will be updated as additional information about the motocross accident has been released. Accident eyewitnesses were interviewed, and any additional witnesses were urged to contact their local law enforcement to assist in the investigation.
