Tragic, Fatal Car Accident on U.S. Route 301 in Virginia
VIRGINIA - A motor vehicle accident news story published on foxnews.com states that a two-vehicle accident caused by a tire blowout tragically killed an 11-year-old girl and injured three other people.*
According to Virginia State Police, the three people who were involved in the fatal crash were transported to the Bon Secours Southside Medical Center. The 11-year-old accident victim was tragically pronounced dead while she was receiving treatment at the Bon Secours Southside Medical Center.
The fatal accident occurred just before 4:30 PM on U.S. Route 301 (Blue Star Highway), which runs contiguous to Interstate 95, according to state police Sergeant Michelle Anaya. Law enforcement also reported that an International 4300LP that was converted into an ambulance truck was heading southbound along I-95 when one rear tire exploded. The blowout caused the International 4300LP truck to move out of control, and the truck ran off I-95 and onto Route 301. The truck then hit a 2021 Kia Forte that was heading north. The Kia Forte was struck on its passenger side and was pushed into a ditch.
Three individuals riding in the Kia Forte, a 44-year-old man, an 11-year-old girl, and another child, were all transported to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg.
The two individuals riding inside the truck were identified as a 58-year-old man and a 45-year-old man. They did not suffer severe injuries.
Sergeant Michelle Anaya reported that neither alcohol nor speeding contributed to the accident. No criminal charges are pending in the accident case. This crash news report is currently developing, and the report will be updated as more information about the accident is released.
The Virginia State Police will continue this motor vehicle accident investigation. The area around the crash was shut down for hours while emergency crews and the Virginia State Police managed the accident and assisted the injury victims.
