Motor Vehicle Accident on I-20 Westbound Near Six Flags

ATLANTA, GEORGIA - A news report states that a serious motor vehicle accident occurred on I-20 westbound just past Six Flags.*

The car wreck happened on Saturday, and the incident caused a significant traffic backup west of Atlanta. Two of the three traffic lanes on I-20 were initially shut down. The Georgia Department of Transportation expected the accident to be cleared by 12:30 PM.

The location of the accident was Thornton Road, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation alert. All motorists in the area were urged to utilize alternate routes around the accident. The traffic backup spanned as far back as Factory Shoals Road.

Derivrs were directed to take Thornton Road, then Highway 78, then South Burnt Hickory Road, and then back to I-20. Drivers were also urged to take Riverside Parkway west to Highway 92/Fairburn Road and then onto to I-20.  No other information about the motor vehicle accident has been released at this time. No names of the accident victims were made public.
