Tragic, Fatal Car Accident on Interstate 16 in Laurens County, Georgia
LAURENS COUNTY, GEORGIA - A news report posted on 13wmaz.com states that a pregnant woman tragically lost her baby in a severe motor vehicle accident in Laurens County last Saturday morning.*
The car accident also severely injured five other accident victims. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Post 20 Dublin troopers answered the 911 call to a serious motor vehicle accident that happened at around 8:55 AM on Georgia Highway 19 at Interstate 16 in Laurens County, Georgia.
The accident report states that a dump truck and a Ford van were heading southbound on Highway 19. The dump truck was traveling behind the van. The Ford van driver allegedly missed their left turn into a gas station. The Ford van's driver then tried to make a U-turn and did not yield to the dump truck. The dump truck then crashed into the left side of the Ford, and all 13 occupants in the van were taken to local area hospitals for treatment of their accident-related injuries.
Three victims were air evacuated to Atrium Health Navicent by Air Evac, and one victim was transported to the same hospital by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries. The other passengers were transported to Fairview Park Hospital for non-life-threatening accident-related injuries by private vehicle or ambulance. One female occupant in the van suffered serious injuries, and her unborn baby was tragically pronounced deceased at a local area hospital.
The Georgia State Patrol Troop F Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating this severe motor vehicle accident.
