Tractor-Trailer Swerves Off of I-20, Causing a Severe Truck Accident with Injuries in DeKalb County, Georgia

DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA - According to an online news story published on, a severe accident involving a tractor-trailer truck closed down portions of Interstate-20 Eastbound on Wednesday afternoon.*

The location of the truck accident was Interstate 20 by Wesley Chapel Road in DeKalb County, Georgia. The truck smashed through a barrier and into a resident's backyard.

The DeKalb Police reported that the trucker sustained non-life-threatening accident injuries in the crash, and the driver was taken to a local area hospital for treatment of accident injuries. The tractor-trailer truck allegedly swerved off of the interstate and drove through a wall and into a resident's backyard. Law enforcement officials reported that the truck accident would require a substantial cleanup effort. The debris from the wall was scattered along the side of the road. 

Motorists were urged to take alternate routes toward Conyers or to allow more time to travel through the area. The DeKalb Police stated that the truck driver did not have any passengers at the time of the crash. No other parties were involved in the accident, and accident scene investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating the truck accident. No additional details were provided by the news agency at this time.
