Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Accident on U.S. 27 Between Trion and Summerville

GEORGIA - An online accident news article published on northwestgeorgianews.com reports that a 45-year-old man was tragically killed in a pedestrian collision.*

The report states that an SUV struck the victim while he was walking along U.S. 27 between Trion and Summerville. The Georgia State Patrol's preliminary accident report states that at 9:50 PM, GSP troopers from Post 38 in Rome answered the call to a pedestrian crash on U.S. 27 in Chattooga County.

The pedestrian crash investigation resolved that the 45-year-old victim was walking along the northbound traffic lane, just south of Greeson Street. At that time, a GMC Yukon was heading northbound and hit the victim. He sustained severe injuries in the pedestrian collision. The report states that the victim's next of kin have already been notified. No criminal charges have been filed against the Yukon driver, and none are expected to be filed per the report. 

Georgia State Patrol's Post 38 is currently investigating the fatal crash. No additional information about those involved in the incident has been made public at this time.
