Tragic, Fatal Utility Pole Crash on Houston Lake Road in Perry, Georgia
PERRY, GEORGIA - According to an auto accident article published on 13wmaz.com, one man was tragically killed in a utility pole accident in Perry, Georgia.*
Another accident victim was seriously injured and transported to a local area hospital. The Houston County Coroner James Williams reported that the vehicle's driver, for some unknown reason, left the road and collided with a utility pole. The utility poles then fell into the road.
The accident news report states that the fatal accident happened at around 1:30 in the morning. The crash occurred along Houston Lake Road close to the Bear Branch Road entrance. The news article also states that the Georgia State Patrol's accident report states that an Infiniti car was heading northbound along Highway 127 as it was navigating a curve in the road. The Infiniti then hit a power pole, leading to a major power outage.
Accident eyewitnesses reported that the driver exited his Infiniti and walked into some powerlines generating a high voltage explosion. The Infiniti's driver was identified as a 25-year-old man. He was tragically declared deceased at the accident scene. Houston County Coroner James Williams verified that fallen power lines electrocuted the man. Williams also stated that the passenger in the Infiniti was transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Georgia. Their identity was not made public at this time.
The roadway was shut down for approximately 10 hours and was reopened at around 12 in the afternoon on Sunday. This auto accident is currently under investigation by Houston County officials. No additional accident information has been provided at this time.
