One Person Tragically Dies in Rowland Drive Accident in Moultrie, Georiga

July 08, 2022

MOULTRIE, GEORGIA - In a news report published on moultrieobserver.com, the Georgia Department of Public Safety reported that there were 20 tragic deaths on Georgia's highways during the 4th of July weekend.*

The 78-hour-long Fourth of July weekend started at 6 PM Friday and ended at 11:59 Monday. According to the news report, one of the fatal accidents occurred in Moultrie.

The Georgia State Patrol's public information officer stated that there were very few details about the Moultrie accident, and the Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the crash. Georgia State Patrol troopers were called to the accident scene at around 4:30 in the afternoon. The public information officer stated that one person tragically passed away after a Chevrolet Suburban and a bus on Veterans Parkway by Rowland Drive collided. The public information officer did not release the identity of those involved in the accident. However, a complete accident report would be made available on Wednesday, the public information officer reported.

The Georgia State Patrol's Post 12 is currently investigating another fatal crash that occurred in Grady County. The other 18 fatalities happened in other Georgia counties. The Department of Public Safety is updating the fatality count on its Twitter page, https://twitter.com/ga_dps.

The Georgia State Patrol, along with the Motor Carrier Compliance Division, is encouraging drivers to be more cautious and responsible drivers this summer. Last year's 4th of July holiday period was one day shorter than this year, and the Georgia State Patrol investigated nearly 300 traffic accidents and more than 170 injuries, and nine fatalities.
