Twenty People Tragically Killed in Georgia During the Fourth of July Weekend

ALBANY, GEORGIA - A news report published on walb.com and the Georgia Department of Public Safety report that twenty people tragically lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents during the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Georgia.*

One fatal accident was a pedestrian versus car collision on US 82/SR 520 in Atkinson County, Georgia. The Georgia State Patrol reported that the victim tragically died at the accident scene. One car moved out of the way of another car and into the victim. The fatal crash is under investigation.

Another fatal accident occurred in Colquitt County. The crash happened between a vehicle and a bus. It transpired at around 4:30 PM on Roland Avenue and US 319. One person riding in the vehicle tragically passed away. There were no injuries reported concerning the bus riders. The Georgia State Patrol stated that someone ran a red light causing the crash. The accident is under investigation.

Another accident happened at around 1 AM along Sofkee Road and GA 111 and GA 111. The head-on collision tragically killed the driver in one of the vehicles. The other driver was air evacuated to a local area hospital and is listed in serious medical condition. Georgia State Patrol troopers reported that alcohol is to blame for the crash.
