Woman Pushes Two People into a Georgia Lake, Tragically Killing the Two Men
GEORGIA - According to an accident news report published on yahoo.com, a woman from Georgia has pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the deaths of two men.*
The woman was sentenced to one year in prison and nine years of probation. According to police, the woman pushed one man into Clarks Hill Lake, and the victim's best friend jumped into the lake to rescue him. Tragically, both drowned in the lake, and their bodies were recovered one week later.
The woman rented two pontoon boats the day of the fatal accidents. The report states that more than twelve people were on the two boats celebrating a birthday. The arrest warrant states that the woman unlawfully endangered the bodily safety of the first victim when she knowingly disregarded a substantial and unjustifiable risk by pushing the man off a boat into the deep, cold water on Clarks Hill Lake without learning whether or not the victim could swim would endanger the safety of the victim, and that disregard formed a gross deviation from the standard care which a rational individual would exercise in that situation.
The woman apologized for her actions to the victims' families. The police also broke up a confrontation that involved the perpetrator's friends and family and the victims' friends and family. This tragic incident reminds us to use life preservers and to use care while on the water.
