McLaren Crashes into Lamborghini Aventador SV and BMW i8 During Atlanta's Gumball 3000
GEORGIA - An accident news article on carscoops.com reports that an accident involving three supercars occurred in Atlanta during the Gumball 3000 rally.*
The exotic car accident involved a blue McLaren 570S rear-ending a Lamborghini Aventador SV that was trying to move into the center traffic lane. The crash occurred on a street located in the Atlantic Station just outside of Atlanta.
Several videos showing the accident went viral. The videos show McLaren's driver, who was trying to accelerate quickly into the middle lane from behind the two other luxury vehicles. The accident forces launched the blue McLaren 570S off of the ground and onto a BMW i8, which was riding in the right traffic lane.
The news report states that the driver of the Lamborghini Aventador was ticketed for making an improper lane change, and the driver of the McLaren 570S was cited for "driving too fast for the conditions."
One video shows the three motor vehicles driving in a formation. A Kia Soul, driving ahead of the supercars and in the center lane, was almost struck by the speeding McLaren. Additional videos of the event show the Lamborghini Aventador being put onto a flatbed truck. The crash is under investigation by law enforcement.
