Tragic, Fatal Car vs. Pedestrian Collision in Chattooga County
GEORGIA - According to an online news report published on northwestgeorgianews.com, the Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal car vs. pedestrian collision in Chattooga County.*
The investigation resumed on Thursday as law enforcement throughout the state prepared for increased traffic expected this Memorial Day weekend. Georgia State Patrol Post 38 reacted to a serious motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision on U.S. 27 at Rossville Boulevard in Chattooga County last Thursday at around 4:14 in the morning.
The preliminary accident investigation resolved that a red Dodge Charger, driven by a 26-year-old, was traveling southbound in the right traffic lane of U.S. 27. A pedestrian, a 48-year-old woman, was allegedly in the right lane when the Dodge Charger struck her. She tragically passed away due to severe accident-related injuries.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety is encouraging drivers traveling in Georgia or visiting Georgia to use safe driving behaviors this Memorial Day holiday weekend. Last year, law enforcement investigated 17 fatal traffic accidents. These accidents resulted in 20 deaths in Georgia. During last year's Memorial Day holiday, there were 425 traffic accidents causing 274 injuries and 11 fatalities.
