Innocent ATV Operator Tragically Killed By Bartow County Deputy Chase with a Truck

CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA - According to an online accident news story published on patch.com, an innocent driver of an all-terrain vehicle was tragically killed by a truck in Cartersville, Georgia.*

The truck that caused the fatal crash with the man on an ATV was being pursued by Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies. Law enforcement authorities stated that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the man riding on an ATV.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies initiated the pursuit because they suspected the driver of the truck to be carrying illegal narcotics on I-75. 

The Calhoun all-terrain vehicle driver tragically passed away last Tuesday night. According to the Georgia State Patrol, at 7 PM, the Bartow County Sheriff's deputies intentionally performed a "pit maneuver, causing the truck to stop it. However, the Nissan truck spun counterclockwise and left the highway at a "very high rate of speed," and crashed into the ATV. The ATV driver was fatally injured, according to the Georiga State Patrol. 

The Nissan truck's driver, a Chattanooga, was charged with felony aggravated assault, felony drug trafficking, fleeing from an officer, tampering with evidence, making terroristic threats, and several misdemeanor driving charges.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the chase. Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap did not provide any comment about the incident, which is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol. The truck driver is being held without bond at the Bartow County Jail.
