Tragic, Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Downtown Macon, Georgia
MACON, GEORGIA - According to an online news article published on 13wmaz.com, a female driver has been criminally charged with Vehicular Homicide and DUI after she allegedly caused a fatal car accident in downtown Macon.*
Sherriff's deputies also accused the woman of driving while under the influence of alcohol with her young daughter in her car. The news report states that the woman ran a stop sign and then crashed her car into a pickup truck driven by a Lizella man.
According to the media release, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 6 PM along Georgia Avenue at Monroe Street. The alleged drunk driver, a 33-year-old woman from Atlanta, was operating a Nissan Frontier when she drove through an intersection stop sign. Her Nissan Frontier struck a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by the 61-year-old Lizella man. The collision caused his pickup truck to flip over, and he was thrown from his truck. He was transported to the Medical Center, Atrium Health Navicent. He was tragically declared deceased by hospital staff.
The Nissan driver and her 6-year-old daughter were uninjured in the crash. The driver was arrested and criminally charged with DUI, failure to stop, endangering a child by driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, and hit and run. Any witnesses are urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. The crash is currently under investigation.
