Georgia Man Tragically Killed in an Interstate-85 Car Accident
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA - An online accident news report published on wsfa.com states that Georgia man was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 85.*
The severe crash closed down the interstate for several hours as law enforcement officials investigated the fatal crash. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the victim was a 63-year-old man from Decatur, Georgia. He tragically passed away after the Isuzu box-truck he was operating rear-ended a Freightliner tractor-trailer truck. The victim was declared deceased at the scene of the crash.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to multiple accidents on Thursday morning. These crashes caused significant traffic delays on Interstate-85 between Lee and Montgomery Counties. Two of the motor vehicle accidents were cleared by noon. However, the fatal accident by mile marker 15-mile involved multiple cars and was not cleared for about six hours. Traffic delays extended for more than seven miles. Interstate traffic was re-routed to Exit 16 and onto U.S. Highway 80, but the detour route quickly became heavily congested.
The motor vehicle accident is currently under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The additional information about the fatal motor vehicle crash has not been released to the public.
