Georgia Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in a Panama City Beach Accident at Thunder Beach Weekend

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man from Douglasville, Georgia, was heading southbound along Silver Sands Road on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He then turned left onto Thomas Drive. At that moment, a Jeep Wrangler and the motorcycle collided. The Jeep's driver is a 47-year-old female from Senoia, Georgia.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that the Jeep's front collided with the the side of the driver and motorcycle. The motorcyclist was then thrown off of his motorcycle and landed on the pavement. Both motor vehicles then caught on fire. The motorcyclist was taken to a local area hospital and was in critical medical condition. He tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The Jeep's driver was arrested and criminally charged with a DUI. She suffered minor injuries.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Jason King, a driver can be arrested for a DUI crash, or DUI even if they were not at fault for the accident. He also described the accident as being in "the wrong place at the wrong time." The fatal motorcycle accident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
