Car Thief Crashes into Two Vehicles While Being Pursued By Georgia State Patrol Troopers
DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA - According to an online news report published on fox5atlanta.com, a car thief stole a high-end sports car and then crashed into two vehicles while trying to flee police.*
A Georgia State Patrol trooper tried to stop a driver driving a Dodge Charger Hellcat along Glenwood Road by Candler Road at approximately 8:45 PM. The driver of the Dodge Charger Hellcat was caught by troopers driving over the posted speed limit.
When the driver failed to stop, the Georgia State Patrol trooper started to pursue the Dodge Charger Hellcat. The operator of the Dodge Charger headed east along Glenwood Road at a high rate of speed. The Dodge driver then veered onto the wrong side of the roadway and then collided with two other vehicles along Glenwood Road by Atherton Drive in DeKalb County, Georgia.
Law enforcement authorities determined Dodge Charger was a stolen vehicle.
Following the crash, the Dodge Charger driver exited the sports car and fled the accident scene on foot. Law enforcement authorities found the driver hiding behind a house. He has been arrested and charged with reckless driving, felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a felon, theft by receiving, failure to maintain lane, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, hit-and-run, and driving unlicensed.
