Tragic, Fatal Cobb County Motor Vehicle Accident

March 29, 2022

COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA - In an accident news report published on ajc.com, an Atlanta man left the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident in Cobb County, Georgia.*

The news report also states that the accident was a fatal head-on collision that tragically killed another driver.  According to accident investigators, a 36-year-old man left his wreck truck and wallet at the accident scene, according to his arrest warrant.  Law enforcement officers found the suspect at his home, and he was placed under arrest.

The news report states that the accident happened at around 3 in the morning.  The suspect purportedly was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound along Dallas Acworth Highway by Acworth, according to law enforcement.  The suspect's truck crossed the road's centerline near Bridgemont Place.

The suspect's arrest warrant stated that the front of the Chevrolet crashed into the front of a Nissan Frontier that was heading northbound on Dallas Acworth Highway.  The Nissan driver was brought to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, according to police.  However, the 59-year-old man from Acworth tragically died from his accident-related injuries.  The suspect walked away from the accident scene without trying to help the victim or provide information to law enforcement officers.

Inside the suspect's truck, law enforcement officers found his wallet and heroin and methamphetamine.  The Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested the suspect at his home and criminally charged him with hit and run, first-degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain a lane, and two counts of drug possession.

The suspect's warrant stated that the suspect had a swollen left hand with new cuts and had fresh scratches on the left lower leg and the left side of his neck.  He also had a new injury to his left eye.  The suspect is being held without bond at the Cobb jail.
