Two People Tragically Killed in an I-20 Accident in Atlanta, Georgia

March 23, 2022

ATLANTA, GEORGIA - An accident news story published on fox5atlanta.com reports that the Atlanta Police responded to a fatal car accident on Interstate-20 in Atlanta, Georgia.*

The fatal crash tragically killed two people and severely injured several others people.  The tragic crash occurred last Sunday.  Atlanta Police stated that the fatal crash involved one driver driving a Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet pickup carrying three people, including a baby girl.

Tragically, the driver of the Dodge Charger and a man riding in the Chevy pickup truck passed away in the crash.  A woman who was driving the Chevy pickup, an infant, and a 16-year-old boy survived the crash.  However, they were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.  Police reported that a pet dog was also injured in the severe motor vehicle crash.

Atlanta Fire Rescue arrived and found the Dodge Charger on fire when firefighters arrived at the scene of the crash at around 5:15 AM.  Firefighters then found the truck overturned several lanes from the Dodge Charger.  One person was partly out of the pickup truck, and another passenger was entrapped.

Atlanta Fire Rescue extinguished the car's flames, and paramedics transported all surviving accident victims to Grady Memorial Hospital.  Law enforcement stated that the preliminary accident details indicate that the Chevy pickup truck was heading eastbound and tried to avoid striking the Charger but wrecked.  Law enforcement is continuing its investigation.  All traffic was resuming at normal speeds by 9:30 AM.

First responders were at the accident scene at around 8 AM and began to assist the victims in the car with major damage.  Wreckers arrived at the scene to clear the cars.  Traffic in the area slowed traffic between I-285 and Six Flags Parkway.
