Tragic, Fatal Train-Rideshare Collision in Duluth, Georgia
DULUTH, GEORGIA - An accident news article published on ledger-enquirer.com reports that a train struck a ride-share car after the vehicle was stuck on train tracks in Duluth, Georgia.*
The passenger was able to escape the crash, Duluth Police stated. The Duluth Police stated that the driver was unable to escape their vehicle in time and tragically died in the collision.
The public information officer for the Duluth Police Department stated that their law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call at around 5:30 morning. The officers discovered that a train struck a rideshare car that was stuck on the tracks. The rideshare driver did have passengers in their vehicle when the driver got his vehicle stuck on the tracks in Duluth. Once the rideshare passengers saw the train was coming in their direction, they jumped out of the vehicle and told the rideshare driver to do the same. Tragically the driver remained in his car and tried to get his motor vehicle unstuck. The car was then struck by the train and was pushed around 200 feet from the site of the impact.
When officers arrived at the accident scene, the rideshare driver tragically died. Law enforcement officers kept the driver's identity private until the next of kin could be notified. The area was cleaned up by 7:30 AM and the train was able to continue on its trip. The accident is currently under investigation.
