Tragic Fatal Accident in Edgefield Kills Three People

EDGEFIELD, SOUTH CAROLINA - An accident news article published on wrdw.com reports that a pedestrian was tragically killed after a motor vehicle struck his sedan, which was just involved in a separate collision.*  

The fatal motor vehicle crash occurred at around 6:10 in the morning.  The South Carolina Highway Patrol stated that the crash happened along Sweetwater Road by Mays Way, about three miles south of Edgefield.

The report states that a Dodge Ram pickup truck, operated by a 54-year-old man from Greenwood, was heading southbound along Sweetwater when it collided with an unoccupied Hyundai Elantra sedan that was parked in the road due to a prior crash.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was standing behind the car and was hit and killed in the second collision, according to the Edgefield County Coroner's Office.  The South Carolina State troopers stated that the victim was hit by both motor vehicles and was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene at 6:15 in the morning, according to the Coroner David Burnett.  

The Dodge Ram pickup truck driver was not injured, South Carolina State troopers reported.  The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal accident.  No further information has been provided at this time.
