Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-285 in Cobb County, Georgia
COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA - A pedestrian accident news report published on WSBTV.com states that the Cobb County Police reported that a woman was tragically killed in a pedestrian-car collision on I-285.*
According to the police report, the victim was struck by several motor vehicles along the interstate. The Cobb County Police reported the fatal pedestrian accident that occurred around 10 PM along I-285 Northbound between Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive.
The Cobb County Police stated that a 2001 Mercedes Benz E320 was heading northbound along I-285 when its driver lost control over the vehicle and then collided into the interstate's median wall. The accident report states that a purple Jeep Wrangler collided with the Mercedes after the Mercedes struck the wall. The vehicles came to rest in the left northbound traffic lane, and the Mercedes driver stepped out of their vehicle and attempted to cross to the right breakdown lane. She was tragically struck by several motor vehicles and was tragically pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The Cobb County Police identified the victim as a 20-year-old woman from Austell.
Although drivers who struck the woman stopped and stayed at the accident scene, law enforcement investigators believe the first motor vehicle that hit the victim left the scene before police arrived. Cobb County Police don't have a vehicle description of that automobile at this time. Accident scene investigators are asking for eyewitnesses to come forward and help investigators. The crash is currently under investigation.
