Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Accident Involving a Garbage Truck in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia
GEORGIA - According to an accident news report published on ajc.com, a pedestrian was tragically killed on a road in southwest Atlanta.*
The victim was removed from the collision scene located on Campbellton Road close to the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA. The accident report states that the victim was walking along the busy Atlanta roadway when the victim was struck by a garbage truck and then tragically passed away.
The Atlanta Police reported they expected the garbage truck driver to be criminally charged in the fatal pedestrian collision. The truck driver worked for a private trash business.
According to an Atlanta Police news release, its police officers arrived at the collision scene on Campbellton Road at around 11 AM. The victim was later identified by law enforcement as a 70-year-old man. He was found deceased at the crash scene.
The garbage truck driver stayed at the accident site and was later interviewed by detectives. Law enforcement authorities did not disclose which criminal charges the driver might be facing. An Atlanta Police spokesperson confirmed that the garbage truck driver was not driving for the city.
