Atlanta Highways Make the List of America's Most Bottlenecked Roads
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - According to an article published on wsbtv.com, the city of Atlanta has many of the worst bottlenecked roads in the United States.
According to the news report from Channel 2, the city of Atlanta had nine bottlenecks that made the American Transportation Research Institute's list. The list was constructed using data from over one million trucks that traveled U.S. roadways in 2021.
The news article states that the pandemic gave motorists a break from dense traffic, but the severe traffic is back "with a vengeance."
American Transportation Research Institute's President, Rebecca Brewster, stated that the speed of trucks has slowed down during their analysis of 2021 traffic as compared to pre-pandemic traffic calculations. The researchers discovered that the average rush-hour speeds for 18-wheeler truck traffic dropped to around 36 mph in the areas of known bottlenecks. The researchers explained that when transport trucks slow down due to traffic congestion, all other vehicles must also be slowing down.
According to the research, the George Washington Bridge in New York City has the worst bottleneck in the world. The George Washington Bridge has been named the worst bottleneck in the world for the fourth straight year. The bridge connects Manhattan to the state of New Jersey.
