Car Accident on on Interstate 85 at Old National Highway in Atlanta, Georgia
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - A news report published on 11alive.com states that a serious car accident has occurred on Interstate 85 at Old National Highway by the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.*
The motor vehicle accident caused severe traffic delays. The motor vehicle collision blocked all northbound traffic lanes of Interstate 85 at Old National Highway just before Riverdale Road in South Fulton. The crash occurred at around 3:45 AM. The road was reopened to traffic at around 6 AM.
All drivers were urged to take alternate routes around the accident. 11Alive Red Alert suggested that drivers heading from the southside or those driving to the airport should take I-85 northbound to Flat Shoals Road, head eastbound along Old National Highway, and back onto I-285. Drivers were also directed to take Highway 29/Roosevelt Highway around the accident.
The motor vehicle accident is currently under investigation. No further details were provided at this time. The severe car accident closed traffic in the area for over two hours.
