Wrong-way Driver Causes a Severe Car Accident on I-85 in Atlanta, Georgia
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - According to an online news report published on www.fox5atlanta.com, the Atlanta Police Department reported on a severe motor vehicle accident on the Downtown Connector.*
The accident report alleges that the driver who caused the accident was driving while under the influence. The alleged drunk driver was arrested and charged with DUI and now faces other criminal charges as a result of the accident with injuries.
The Atlanta Police reported that the alleged drunk driver entered I-85 and headed in the wrong direction. The driver was heading northbound in the southbound traffic lanes of I-85. Atlanta Police confirmed that the presumed drunk driver caused a severe car accident that involved three motor vehicles. The at-fault driver was arrested at the scene of the accident.
Atlanta Police reported that all of the occupants inside the three motor vehicles were injured. They are all listed as being in stable medical condition. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the severe car crash.
Accident crews worked to clear the crash on Interstate 85 southbound near 17th Street in Atlanta. The motor vehicle accident shut down most traffic lanes. The crash also slowed traffic down along Georgia Highway 400 by its merger with I-85 southbound. The accident is currently under investigation.
