Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Gwinnett County, Georgia

GWINNETT COUNTY, GEORGIA - According to an online news article published on wsbtv.com, police just released additional details concerning a fatal pedestrian accident in Gwinnett County, Georgia.*

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was tragically killed in the pedestrian collision in Snellville, Georgia.  She was hit by a car at around 6:30 AM on Kings Gate Circle while walking to her bus stop.  Law enforcement officers reported that the driver was at a nearby apartment complex dropping off her dogs with a dog sitter.

According to the accident report, the victim was knocked to the ground by a car, and the vehicle came to a stop on top of the victim.

The driver stated that she felt a "bump" while she was pulling into a parking space.  She states that she did not see anyone or was aware that she had hit the child.  The driver's wife stated that her wife drove around the bus and saw the victim's umbrella in the street.  That is when the driver realized she had struck someone.

The victim's family stated to Channel 2 that they do not believe the explanation provided by the driver.

The tragic, fatal crash is currently under investigation by law enforcement.  It's unclear if the driver is facing criminal charges.  However, no criminal charges have been filed at this time.  No additional details were provided.
