Multiple Car Accidents Occurred on I-16 in Bibb County, Georgia

MACON, GEORGIA - A news article published on wgxa.tv reports that two car accidents on I-16 in Bibb County, Georgia, blocked traffic for several hours.*

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the first motor vehicle accident affected all westbound traffic lanes by mile point 7.  The news report stated that the Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to the car wreck.

Bibb County Sheriff's Office deputies reported that the accident occurred at approximately 10:50 in the morning.  The accident report states that one motor vehicle rear-ended an 18-wheeler, which was stopped due to a traffic accident.  Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident.  The Bibb County Sheriff's Office reported that the tractor-trailer and three other motor vehicles were involved in the second accident.

The driver in that crash was transported to Atrium Health Navicent and is reported  in stable medical condition.  No traffic citations or criminal charges were reported in that accident.  There were no further details provided about the first car wreck.  The accident is currently under investigation.
