Tragic, Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident Along I-85 in Fairburn, Georgia

The motor vehicle accident tragically killed one person and severely injured seven other people. Troopers reported that a semi-tractor-trailer truck collided with numerous cars along Interstate 85 in Fairburn, Georgia.
Georgia State Patrol reported that the semi-tractor-trailer truck was traveling southbound along Interstate-85, slightly north of Georgia Highway 74. At some point, traffic in front of the truck began to slow down. Troopers stated that the truck driver was "following too close," and as a result, the truck could not slow down quick enough and then collided with several motor vehicles in front of the truck.
A 66-year-old man was air evacuated to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
Seven other people were taken by ambulance to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
