Severe, Multiple-Car Accident on Dill Avenue in Southwest Atlanta,
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - A news article posted on 11alive.com reports that the Georgia State Patrol troopers were in pursuit of a potential suspect through southwest Atlanta, Georgia.* The police chase ended with the suspect's car crashing. The suspect collided with innocent motorists.
The report states that a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a Dodge Durango for an equipment violation. According to law enforcement authorities, the Dodge Durango driver refused to stop for law enforcement.
Georgia State Patrol troopers then followed the Dodge Durango along Peters Street and then along Lee Street. The SUV driver traveled into oncoming traffic and then weaved in and out of motor vehicles to avoid police, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The suspect then turned onto Dill Avenue and attempted to speed through an intersection at Dill Avenue and Sylvan Road. The suspect's vehicle then hit the driver side of a Subaru Forester. The Dodge SUV then hit a Toyota Corolla. The collision caused the Subaru to flip over, investigators said.
All passengers in the Corolla and the Subaru were transported to Grady Hospital. The accident investigators did not report any information concerning the passengers injuries.
After the three-vehicle collision, the Dodge Durango's driver of the SUV attempted to flee the accident scene. The Georgia State Patrol stated that the 24-year-old suspect was quickly caught and taken into custody. The suspect is facing several criminal charges including serious injury by motor vehicle charges, felony fleeing, speeding, reckless driving, and DUI.
