Fatal Wrong-Way Accident on I-16 in Laurens County, Georgia
DUBLIN, GEORGIA - A news report published on 13wmaz.com states that law enforcement officials identified and filed criminal charges against a man who caused a fatal wrong-way accident near Dublin on Thanksgiving Day.*
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the victim was a 56-year-old man from Savannah. The Georgia State Patrol states that they were responding to reports of a wrong-way driver on I-16 when they received notice that the wrong-way driver caused an accident.
Their preliminary investigation revealed a Chevy Impala driven by a 76-year-old Cadwell woman who was heading westbound on an eastbound traffic lane on I-16. The driver then collided head-on with a Volvo.
The victim tragically died from his injuries, and the other driver was air evacuated to the Medical Center, Atrium Health Navicent.
The Georgia State Patrol also reported that criminal charges are pending against the wrong-way driver in connection with the fatal accident.
The fatal crash is currently under investigation. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is helping.
