Driver Arrested in Fatal Accident in Columbia County, Georgia
COLUMBIA COUNTY, GEORGIA - A news report posted on wfxg.com states that Columbia County law enforcement is investigating a fatal drunk driving accident that tragically claimed two lives.* Law enforcement officials confirmed that a 36-year-old man was arrested and allegedly charged in the fatal accident.
According to the news report, Columbia County Detention Center jail records state the suspect was arrested and allegedly charged with driving with a suspended license, following too closely, two counts of homicide by vehicle, and driving under the influence of drugs. The driver is being held at the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.
The Columbia County Coroner's Office responded to the fatal accident scene on I-20. The accident occurred along I-20 Eastbound between the Grovetown and Thomson exits. The coroner's office confirmed that there were two people who were tragically killed in the collision. The accident is currently under investigation.
