Tragic, Fatal SUV SUV Wrong-way Collision in Grand County, Utah
GRAND COUNTY, UTAH - A news report published on gephardtdaily.com reports that law enforcement officials have identified the victim of a deadly wrong-way collision on Interstate 70 in Grand County, Utah.*
According to a statement from Utah Highway Patrol, the victim was a 43-year-old woman from Ferguson, North Carolina.
The accident occurred at around 1:30 in the morning on I-70 by Mile Post 222. The report states that a Kia SUV was moving in the wrong direction. The Kia SUV then collided head-on with a large box truck. Both motor vehicles burst into flames. The passengers in the box truck survived but sustained serious injuries. The Kia SUV driver died at the accident scene.
According to the report, the Colorado Fire and EMS reacted to the accident call for fire suppression and medical care. The westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for about three and a half hours due to the fire. The crash occurred in the Cisco area, just northeast of Moab. The Utah Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Team and the State Bureau of Investigation are conducting an accident investigation.
